Pour Cyclist

Thursday, 27 March 2014

You are looking at a rather dramatic (and gif'd up) scene from a story of romance,
self discovery and vehicular coming of age.

It's over guys. Last month saw the end of my cycling comic strip!
In case you missed it, you can read the whole thing on Cycle Camden's Facebook page.
So if you're still wondering what happened to this poor chap, and if things gets better for him,
what are you still doing here? GO READ IT!

David Byrne & St Vincent: Love This Giant

Friday, 21 March 2014

At the end of 2012, two of my favourite artists got together and released an album.
David Byrne & St Vincent:

You should give them a listen,
they've put together the best use of brass instruments I've heard in a while.
I can't help but feel like dancing when I listen to this record,
a cliché at best, but the truth, you might feel it too.

Unfortunately I didn't manage to see them when they went on tour in the UK late last year,
and that's something I'm still coming to terms with!

Lend them your ears, whilst I go and dream about them making a second record together:

On a related note, there's a chance you've seen St. Vincent's face pop up everywhere recently, and quite rightly so, her new self titled album is quite fantastic, theres a chance I'll talk about that another time.

Byker Biker

Tuesday, 18 March 2014

Did a fully digital test the other day, so I though I'd share it.

Everything I do usually requires me to at least sketch on paper first,
but not this time. Straight to the tablet.

How did I do?

Owlle: Amelia's Magazine

An illustration I recently did of the musician Owlle for Amelia's Magazine.

What's her music like I hear you cry? Well, this.

Twitch Played Pokémon

Thursday, 13 March 2014

On March 1st 2014, Red beat the Elite 4, with a few helping hands:

This is my little tribute to the original Twitch Plays Pokémon Red event.

For those who may have missed this, 'Twitch Plays Pokémon' is a massive online social experiment hosted by the game streaming site Twitch in which tens of thousands of people attempt to play the same game of Pokémon at the same time. This is done in real time by any member of the website inputting commands into the chat section of the stream.

This obviously results in pure chaos.
The whole process has been oddly mesmerising, and at times hilarious. Red would run around in circles; taking hours to walk through a corridor, many pokémon have been accidentally thrown away, and don't even get me started on the Helix fossil.

I originally posted this tribute on twitter on the day the twitch viewers beat the original endgame.
Since then they've graduated to Pokémon Crystal, and are a good 11 days into it now.
You can check out their progress right here.

I've never wanted to play Pokémon so much as an adult than I do right now.

#100

Wednesday, 12 March 2014

Ok so..... Thanks for sticking around!
Finally got here, Post 100. Only took 4 and a half years!
I know this isn't a big deal to a lot of people, but getting here is a rather nice thing for me.

As a personal celebration I made this little gif.
Thought it would be interesting to see what one of my older characters from the start looks
like loosely animated by the same hand today.
It has been a wonderfully self-indulgent process I must admit.

Man, flowers in the wind take a long time to animate.

I've got much more work to show you, here and elsewhere! I got a tumblr you see.
Might migrate there, or might keep both blogs, we'll see what happens I suppose!
I'll update both for the time being!
But yeah, keep your eye out for that.

I'd like to say more, but I feel like I've gone on for too long already.
Hopefully the future work shall speak for itself too.

Once again, thanks to anyone who has stopped by and had a little gander over the last few years.
As a thank you, here's snippet of the best thing I heard last year, enjoy:
