Another trio for you folks!

What are they looking at?
Ever thought it might just be you?

Buddy Fever: Cats or Dogs?

Monday, 23 February 2015

A couple of works in progress.
Letter jackets are my visual jam right now.
By that I mean there's a lot more where these came from.

Hardball III

Wednesday, 10 December 2014

Sport and wisdom guys, sport and wisdom.
Did this one page comic a while back. I've been holding on to it for pretty much no reason.
So yeah, that's that. It was mega fun to do, and a good excuse to draw Dahlia again.

This is a render test which has evolved into a little something else.
Her name is currently Dahlia Waleed, and that's all for now.

Another no paper required drawing.
Again, how did I do?

Byker Biker

Tuesday, 18 March 2014

Did a fully digital test the other day, so I though I'd share it.

Everything I do usually requires me to at least sketch on paper first,
but not this time. Straight to the tablet.

How did I do?

#100

Wednesday, 12 March 2014

Ok so..... Thanks for sticking around!
Finally got here, Post 100. Only took 4 and a half years!
I know this isn't a big deal to a lot of people, but getting here is a rather nice thing for me.

As a personal celebration I made this little gif.
Thought it would be interesting to see what one of my older characters from the start looks
like loosely animated by the same hand today.
It has been a wonderfully self-indulgent process I must admit.

Man, flowers in the wind take a long time to animate.

I've got much more work to show you, here and elsewhere! I got a tumblr you see.
Might migrate there, or might keep both blogs, we'll see what happens I suppose!
I'll update both for the time being!
But yeah, keep your eye out for that.

I'd like to say more, but I feel like I've gone on for too long already.
Hopefully the future work shall speak for itself too.

Once again, thanks to anyone who has stopped by and had a little gander over the last few years.
As a thank you, here's snippet of the best thing I heard last year, enjoy:

Lone Graduate

Sunday, 12 May 2013

Hey kids!

I graduated almost a year ago, and boy have I been busy.
I've been lucky enough to do some stuff with WPP,
Foyles and I'm currently working on a comic strip, which I'll get into later.

Man, the origin of this image is a little lame to be honest. I though of it a little after graduation day. After the ceremony I managed to lose almost all of my friends.
Its silly, but one of the things I was looking forward to was taking the super duper clichéd 'throw your hats in the air' picture with all the friends I'd spent the last 3-4 years with. But i couldn't find them, because I misplaced my phone, and they took one without me.
You know, not the end of the world.

I though about ways of managing to recreate a moment I narrowly missed,
and ended up drawing this.
So I in a way I did get the photo I wanted,
with all the characters I've created,
who have helped me get to where I am today!

See I told you it was a little sad.

Once you're done laughing have a listen to this!

You... you can tell whats going on here right?

Golden Coyotes

Thursday, 29 March 2012

By the looks of it,
I might finally be about to do something with these guys.

You know what, I don't think I've ever told you their names.
El Niño Coyote/The Boy Coyote

La Hija del Oro/The Daughter of Gold

I currently have no idea how they're linked, time to get my story-writing cap on.
But I'll tell you this, they're not lovers.

An image from an upcoming self-publication, more on this some day.
With some luck that might be soon.

Oh, and just for the hell of it, here's a crappy phone image of the
mammoth project I've been inking recently:

This project has really grown.
It's become 25+ pages people.
I'm scared too...

P-P-P-P-P-P

Monday, 31 October 2011

Hey there, I'm still alive.
Photobucket
Here's just a glimpse of one of the few things that have been
preoccupying me the last couple of months.

I've been extremely busy lately, so much so that I've finally skipped a month of blogging,
which I had a personal vow not to do.

C-C-C-Combo Breaker and whatnot.

You won't hear much from me here until the end of November,
for more information as to why, click right here.

Might seem like it came out of nowhere, but yeah, it's all about Pixel Art,
I've almost finished writing about it, so now it's time to make some more.

On that note here's some awesome Chiptune.

On a completely unrelated note, Happy Halloween!

Aqua-Don

I had the choice of working in monochrome or colour - biro or paint.

I chose to paint. That choice became the bane of my life for 2 weeks.

I've never been a fast painter, out of all the things I'm slow at, it may be the thing I'm slowest at. I gave myself 7 intricate paintings to do, because compromise wasn't an option for this vision.

2 weeks is a long time without sleep.

Seasonal Proof

Ah, I was only meant to scan them in...

A couple of month old character sketches from my last narrative project
that I want to redux before I post here.
You've seen the apparently androgynous one before.

Just so you know Spring and Autumn exist too, they just didn't get as far as these two. If they were in the final story, it would have become a 50 page epic. Accomplishing something like that that in 3 weeks is something that's only possible in my dreams.

SCRN PRNT WNTR

Sunday, 20 March 2011

Finally done my screen printing induction. For the induction we could create an image based on anything we wanted, so I opted for one of my brand new characters.

I present to you, Winter:

I put these together using a paper stencil and 2 images exposed from acetate prints. In the end I managed to create 24 2-3 colour screen prints in total, and each one is completely unique. Not too shab.

Here are 6 more of my favourites, just click on any of them to view them at a reasonable size.

Ah, to think I'm technically on my 3rd year at CSM and I've only just got round to screen printing seems a bit ridiculous. A little part of that is my fault, but most of it isn't, seeing as I wasn't even allowed to use the facilities until the start of this academic year.

***

There has been a lot of controversy recently at Central Saint Martins about the proposed future state of our printing & bookbinding facilities. The CSM administration have proposed to move all our print facilities to Byam Shaw as a consequence of our big move to Kings Cross, and that in their place we have more computer suites and desks. They have changed things from their original (and logical) plan to keep the facilities on the same site as the people who would use them, which is a massive shame, sacrificing the traditional for the digital.

The students of CSM Graphic Design are not happy, and have been protesting ever since.
So please help us, and sign our petition, we only need a few more signatures:
http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/csm-to-lose-print-workshops-to-byam-shaw/

Also, to keep up to date with and find out more about what's going on, check out the protest blog here: http://csmprintprotest.tumblr.com/

Thank you.

Christmas Is Awesome!

I like to post this in places around Christmas time;
It's my favourite Christmas song:

A slightly belated Merry Christmas to you all!
I hope it was awesome. Xx

Digital Childhood

Saturday, 28 August 2010

I finally got round to buying a tablet.
So I decided to celebrate by doing some pencil drawings in my sketchbook,
makes complete sense doesn't it?

After attempting to draw using my new Wacom, I kinda had to do some non digital drawing just to make sure I still knew how to draw. Yes, my days as a recent tablet unvirgin* haven't gone as well as I blindly assumed! I feel like I'm learning to draw for the first time.

Ah, I'll get the hang of it at some point! Early days.
At least it got me drawing some old(ish) characters again.

*Yes it is a word! In the urban dictionary anyway...

Mis Luchadora

I know nothing about wrestling, I just love those masks.

I'm not completely sure what it is about masks that I love so much, but I do have a little idea. I don't think it's the fact that they seal your identity, I think it's their ability to let you assume a completely different persona. They're dressing your face up without the makeup.

Whatever it is i'm constantly drawn to them.

Out of all the different types of masks I've come across, Mexican wrestling masks seem to intrigue me the most. I like the way they're used to symbolise images of gods heroes and animals, along with how beautifully and intricately designed they appear to be these days.

Also they're killer in costumes.

All in all I just find designing masks, any kind of masks really fun, when I look back at my work it's sometimes a little ridiculous how many times I shove masks in there haha!

Now a little fun, I found this site that generates Mexican wrestling names for you!

Mine is "Caballero Magico", which translates to "Magic Knight," oh if only I were!

What's yours?
